Swiss Alps wedding photographer

Fun, Natural, Emotional

Hi, I’m Paul Keppel, a Swiss Alps wedding photographer. I shoot weddings all over Europe and am lucky enough to split my time between Cornwall and the stunning Swiss Alps. I get to call two of the most beautiful spots in the world ‘home’. Yes, I pinch myself on a daily basis!

Imagine getting married with the awesome Swiss Alps as your backdrop, I can’t think of a more epic place to say your vows and celebrate your wedding. The beauty of a Swiss Alps wedding is, whatever the season, you’re guaranteed jaw-dropping vistas and a day that really is like no other. The greenery of the Alps in the spring and summer compares to nothing on earth. In the winter, well, a wedding in the snow has to be seen to be believed. You are going to get the most unique wedding images!

20 Swiss Alps photos from an award winning wedding photographer

Below is a short gallery from weddings I have photographed in the Swiss Alps over the past few years. These Snowy wedding photographs are some of my favourite I have ever captured. Please take a look through and if you are getting married in the area then please get in touch.

The Swiss Alps is such a special place

Located along the borders of Northern Italy and South-Eastern France, the Swiss Alpes is positioned in one of the most beautiful places in Europe. Switzerland’s breathtaking, mountainous region offers so many exciting and unique experiences.

With Austria, Croatia and Germany also conveniently close by, the Swiss Alps central location is perfect in every way for a fantastic destination wedding in Europe.

The need for a specialist Swiss Alps wedding photographer is pretty clear once you realise the unique experiences a Swiss Alps wedding can involve.

Delivering one of the most magnificent landscapes in the world, the Swiss Alps are covered in dazzling glaciers, divine lakes, glorious peaks, awesome rivers, deep valleys, gushing waterfalls,  dense Alpine forests and pretty Alpine villages.

The rhythm of the Swiss Alps sees forest-covered valleys and hills, give way to lush grassy meadows scattered with flowers, topped by the glorious, glacial peaks of its coldest snow-covered regions.

Some of the Swiss Alps most spectacular, sky-high terrain includes the infamous peaks of the Dufourspitze, the tallest peak in the Swiss Alps, as well as the Dom and the unrivalled Matterhorn – the region’s most prized location and one of my most favourite Alpine spots.

The Matterhorn in the Jungfrau region is the best and highest peak for Swiss Alps wedding photography and perfectly located for the stunning town of Zermatt which is conveniently positioned below.

Lake Constance and Lake Geneva are just two of the Alps many glacial lakes, interspersed with sublime national parks and the astounding Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site.

Wedding venues in the Alps

A top European destination since medieval times, the Swiss Alpes is adorned with picturesque Alpine villages boasting the delightful architecture and lots to see and do.

Each fascinating village has its own distinct character. From Grindewald to Guarda and Morcote, the Swiss Alp’s charming settlements offer the chance to enjoy everything from herds of sweet cows with tinkling bells to hidden Japanese gardens, hiking trails, castles, fishing, cycling, awe-inspiring views, ancient churches, cross-country skiing off-piste in Verbier and so much more.

Alpine railways and cable cars make the sensational vistas easy to enjoy, whilst established, well-organised trails make it an ascent high into the mountains possible for everyone.

The air is infamous for its life-giving properties and most villages in the Swiss Alps are car-free. Soaking in the views alone, from above and below the tree-line is something to treasure, yet this, of course, is a far tamer activity than lots of the other delights on available for you and yours to enjoy.

Skiing, snowboarding, sledging, mountain biking, ice-skating, zip-wire rides and snowmobile rides are just some of the huge range of activities that await. A Swiss Alpes wedding leaves every option wide open.

Whether you want to ski to your wedding ceremony, snowshoe to an intimate spot or enjoy Alpine skiing, mountain herds, snowboarding or other treats during your wedding day, it is all perfectly feasible when you have a Swiss Alps wedding.

Engagement shoot in the mountains

What better way to engagement shoot in the Swiss Alps. A pre-wedding photoshoot is included in my packages as I would normally arrive 2 days before your wedding, meaning it gives me the day before the wedding to familiarise myself with the area but also to meet you guys and capture some great photos of you enjoying the mountains.

With only one opportunity to capture all the drama of both the Swiss Alps and your wedding day, you’ll want to ensure that you have a Swiss Alps wedding photographer who knows what they’re doing. This terrain takes some knowledge. I, for example, have spent the last 15 years as a ski and snowboard instructor and can often be found skiing backwards whilst shooting my couples not something the average wedding photographer can undertake!
