Top 5 wedding venues in Zermatt

If you are getting married in Zermatt and can’t find the right wedding venue,  I’ve put together a list of Top 5 wedding venues in Zermatt to suit all styles. Ranging from stunning 5* Hotels to beautiful quint restaurant up the mountain which you can ski in too.

(top 5 is not a ranking )

The Grand Hotel Zermatterhof

wedding at Hotel Zermatterhof 1

I photographed at the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof a couple of times and it was the first venue I thought of including in my top 5 wedding venues in Zermatt.

If you’re after 5 star grandeur then you really can’t beat the Grand Hotel Zermatterhof. The hotel has been welcoming guests since 1879 due to its incredible mountain views and luxurious suroundings. It’s also home to some of the best wedding staff I’ve ever worked with, so if you book you’re wedding here you won’t regrert it.

Two of my favourite weddings have taken place at the Zermatterhof. At the beginning of the year I photographed Robin and Ryan’s elopement in Zermatt and then Coray and Marc travelled over from America for their wedding.

Riffelalp Resort

wedding at Hotel Riffelalp in Zermatt 5

Standing high above Zermatt and tucked away in the mountains is a whitewashed chapel called Herz Jesu. It’s perfect for intimate ceremonies, especially if couples then choose to hold the rest of the celebrations at the Riffelalp Resort. I’m including both the resort and chapel as they worked perfectly together for Verena and Nick’s summer wedding.

The journey to the Riffelalp Resort is hard to beat. The rack railway climbs high above Zermatt before you disembark and continue your journey on the highest tram in Europe during the summer months. During the winter the tram doesn’t run but a skidoo will transport you to the resort. In my view this is one of the most unforgetable arrivals you could have for your wedding. To find out more check out Verena and Nick’s wedding.

Zum See Resturant

wedding at Zum See in Zermatt 2

If food’s your thing, Zum See will definitely deliver. It is one of Zermatt’s finest mountain restaurants and sits at the foot of the Matterhorn. You can also follow suit on your special day like Ed and Viki’s and combine a meal at Zum See with a mega party back at your chalet!

Zum See is the perfect place for a mountain wedding breakfast. It’s situated below the Furi lift and is a short 15 minute gentle decent of which much is stepped and will be perfect for your wedding guests. If you’re more adventurous though you can ski directly to the restaurant and be welcomed in by your wedding guests..

Mont Cervin Palace

wedding at Hotel Mont Cervin Palace in Zermatt 4

Situated in the heart of Zermatt is the stunning Mont Cervin Palace. It’s only a 2 minute walk from the train station and the hotel will provide transfers. For something a little more special, you can be picked up from the station by horse and carriage which is a wonderful way to set the tone to your wedding.

A large proportion of the guest rooms are south facing with a balcony or a patio providing stunning views of the Matterhorn. In addition, a few of the junior suites and suites come with a hot-tub or an open fireplace.

I also have to mention the first-class ski facilities in the hotel basement. Guests have card-operated lockers to store their skis and boots which is a really personal touch.

Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort

wedding at Hotel Cervo in Zermatt 1

For many years I’ve been to the Cervo Mountain Boutique Resort due to its ski-in, ski-out apres ski. There is nothing better than having a beer and listening to some cool music with a view of the Matterhorn. When I was asked to photograph a wedding at Cervo, I jumped at the chance.

The hotel has a great location, situated on a hillside and only 5 minutes from Main Street. In addition, the hotel will pick you up from the train station if required. The large sun terrace is perfect for mingling with your guests and great for the group photos as it offers stunning views of the Matterhorn.

I hope my Top 5 wedding venues in Zermatt was helpful , it was so hard to compile the list as there are a few wedding venues that I haven’t photographed at and I’m sure they would have made the list. ParkHotel Beau Site, Riffelhaus 1853 &  The Omnia all look amazing wedding venues and are definitely on my wish list to photograph.
