Welcome to the enchanting world of the Alps, where your “3 Vallees wedding” aspirations find their idyllic setting. As a French Alps wedding photographer, I blend 15 years of ski and snowboard expertise with professional photography to immortalize your love story amid the 3 Valleys’ majestic landscapes. My unique perspective, honed on these very slopes, allows me to capture not just images but the essence of your “3 Vallees wedding” celebration in this alpine paradise.
Ski instructor wedding photographer in the Alps
I’m Paul Keppel, and I specialize in capturing love’s magic against Europe’s most stunning landscapes. With 8 Zermatt weddings and two in the French Alps under my belt, my transition from a ski and snowboard instructor in Verbier to a wedding photographer in Cornwall’s verdant settings has been remarkable. My diverse background not only enriches my life but also the cherished moments I photograph.
The French Alps offer a wedding experience as unique and awe-inspiring as the Swiss Alps. Whether it’s the quaint allure of Les Arcs or the vast beauty of the Three Vallees, each event is a celebration of love against nature’s magnificent canvas.
I’ve also spent three winters delving into Les Deux Alpes, becoming intimately acquainted with this magical resort and its neighbours like the picturesque Alpe d’Huez and Serre Chevalier with its forest-bordered runs. My extensive stays in Les Gets/Morzine have allowed me to absorb their unique mountain charm, enhancing my familiarity with these enchanting locales.

Setting the Scene
The 3 Valleys, renowned as the world’s largest connected ski area, is a quintessential destination for ski enthusiasts. Nestled in the northern French Alps, this expansive region offers 600 km of well-groomed pistes, serviced by an efficient lift system comprising 180 lifts, ensuring that every corner of its 330 marked pistes is accessible.
The high-altitude terrain of the 3 Valleys, with 85% of its runs situated above 1800 meters, guarantees snow-sure conditions, making it a reliable choice for your ski holiday. The area is crowned by Val Thorens, Europe’s highest ski resort, where lifts ascend to an impressive 3200 meters, offering breathtaking views and exhilarating descents.
Catering to all levels of skiing and snowboarding ability, the 3 Valleys is meticulously designed to provide a fulfilling experience for everyone, from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. Novices can gain confidence on 43 green and 129 blue runs, benefiting from the ‘Easy Rider’ system’s clear signposting, while intermediate skiers can traverse the vast expanse, exploring the varied terrain from 3200 meters down to 1300 meters.
For those seeking thrills, four snowparks with diverse features cater to freestylers of all levels, and the tree-lined runs of La Tania and Les Menuires offer shelter and adventure on low-visibility days. Advanced skiers and boarders can challenge themselves on the infamous Grand Couloir in Courchevel or explore the vast off-piste opportunities that the 3 Valleys is famed for. With a single lift pass granting access to all eight resorts, the 3 Valleys invite you to embark on a skiing journey like no other, where the possibilities are as vast as the terrain itself.
Courchevel Weddings: Elegance on the Slopes
Courchevel is a synonym for elegance and exclusivity, providing a splendid backdrop for your “3 Vallees wedding.” Its reputation for upscale accommodations, gourmet dining, and breathtaking views ensures a lavish experience. Here, every photo captures the essence of sophistication against a panorama of snow-covered peaks and chic chalets, making every moment a frame-worthy masterpiece.
Meribel Wedding: Heart of the 3 Vallees
Meribel, nestled at the heart of the 3 Valleys, offers a perfect blend of traditional alpine aesthetics and a lively atmosphere. Its central location makes it a sought-after spot for couples seeking a mix of intimacy and festivity. The town’s rustic charm and picturesque settings create a warm, inviting ambience, ideal for those who wish to infuse their “3 Vallees wedding” with a sense of adventure and cosiness.
Val Thorens Wedding: Soaring to New Heights
Val Thorens, celebrated as the highest ski resort in Europe, presents a wedding experience that’s literally above the rest. Its modern amenities and sweeping views offer a unique juxtaposition of contemporary luxury and natural splendour. Whether you’re dreaming of an intimate ceremony or a grand celebration, Val Thorens’ versatile venues ensure your “3 Vallees wedding” is as exhilarating as the panoramic vistas it’s set against.
In the quaint village of St Martin de Belleville, I once captured a wedding that beautifully melded traditional charm with adventurous spirit. The intimate setting of L’Etoile des Neiges, followed by a spirited celebration at Pourquoi Pas Bar, showcased the 3 Valleys’ versatile appeal. The highlight was a post-wedding ski session in Meribel, where the bride and groom, adorned in their wedding finery, embraced the slopes, creating unforgettable memories and stunning photographs that epitomize the joy and uniqueness of a 3 Vallees wedding.

Les 3 Vallées wedding on the snow
For weddings with guests, where precise timing and coordination are essential, we adapt to any weather conditions that may arise. If you dream of an outdoor ceremony and it snows, the setting transforms into a stunning winter wonderland, adding a touch of magic to your big day. In case of unfavourable weather, like rain at higher altitudes, rest assured that I have a contingency plan in place. This preparation guarantees that your wedding day remains delightful and unforgettable, no matter the weather.
Elopements offer us more leeway to align with the weather. Since I usually arrive a day or more before the event, we can tweak our schedule based on the latest weather predictions. This adaptability enables us to select the optimum day for your elopement, ensuring it lives up to your dreams and minimizes the worry of unforeseen weather changes.
In weddings involving guests, where seamless timing and coordination are crucial, we adapt to any weather conditions. Imagine an outdoor ceremony that, if met with snowfall, transforms into an enchanting winter wonderland, adding an extra touch of magic to your already special day. On the flip side, if we encounter less favourable weather like rain, especially at high altitudes, rest assured that I have a contingency strategy in place. This proactive approach guarantees that your wedding day will be wonderful and memorable, no matter the weather scenario.
Elopements grant us the luxury of being more adaptable to weather conditions. I generally arrive at the location well before the event, allowing us the opportunity to modify our schedule in alignment with the latest weather updates. This adaptability empowers us to pinpoint the most ideal weather day, ensuring your elopement experience is as flawless and stress-free as you envisioned, free from the concerns of unpredictable weather.
Typically, couples planning a ski wedding tend to reserve their dates 9-12 months in advance. This early planning goes beyond just locking in your desired date; it’s about managing logistics and optimizing expenses. Given that ski weddings usually require coordinating flights, transfers, and lodging, booking early can greatly influence both the overall convenience and cost-effectiveness of your event.
By arranging your wedding well in advance, you provide me with the opportunity to secure travel and accommodation options that are not only suitable but also cost-effective.
While I’m open to last-minute bookings and understand that some couples may organize their ski weddings within a shorter timeframe, early planning is key to ensuring you enjoy the best aspects of your special day. This includes securing your ideal venue and capturing your moments in the most beautiful settings, all while keeping an eye on the budget.
Even with a tight schedule, such as a booking made just 3 weeks prior to the event, I strive to accommodate and deliver an exceptional experience.

Skiing in your wedding outfit is not only feasible but also creates exceptionally beautiful photographs! Grooms should consider layering with thermals beneath their attire to stay warm, and carrying a jacket for those moments off the slopes is a wise choice to maintain comfort.
For brides, it’s quite practical to wear ski pants beneath the gown; if they’re white, they’ll seamlessly blend in, though any colour should suffice as they’re generally not visible. To stay warm without compromising on style, a chic white jacket or a fur stole is advisable. These additions are not just visually appealing in your photos but also provide the necessary warmth as you glide down the slopes in your bridal attire.
After your wedding, I understand the excitement to see the captured moments, and I strive to deliver them to you as promptly as possible. Typically, regardless of where the wedding takes place, you can expect to receive a few “sneak peeks” — a handful of edited images from your special day — shortly after.
While my contract outlines a 4-6 week period for delivering the full edited online gallery, the advantage of most ski weddings occurring in the winter is that it’s a quieter season for my UK weddings. This often allows me to provide you with your complete gallery within just a week or two, letting you relive those magical moments sooner than you might expect.
I provide tailored quotes rather than a one-size-fits-all rate. The costs can vary significantly, especially in renowned locations like Zermatt or Courchevel, known for their exclusivity. To keep my services as accessible as possible, I opt for more affordable accommodations, such as a B&B down the mountain, rather than staying at high-end hotels.
For a more accurate estimate, I recommend getting in touch directly. This allows me to quickly check the current rates for flights and accommodations in your chosen area. The quote I provide will encompass all necessary expenses to ensure a seamless experience, including my travel to the location, fuel, airport parking, flights, transfers, accommodation, lift pass, and ski hire (though I bring my own boots), as well as my sustenance during the stay.
Opting for a “3 Vallees wedding” offers more than just a spectacular location; it’s about immersing yourselves in an experience that melds love, adventure, and the breathtaking French Alps. Whether you’re drawn to the charm of Les Arcs or the majestic beauty of Zermatt, your wedding will be a celebration against some of the most stunning backdrops in the Alps. As your dedicated French Alps wedding photographer, I’m committed to capturing every moment, ensuring your wedding narrative is as captivating and magical as the locations themselves, from the 3 Vallees to Les Arcs and Zermatt.
