Runner up ‘Bespoke Wedding Photographer’ 2016

Last Thursday night, at the South West Wedding Awards ceremony, I came Runner up in the ‘Bespoke wedding photographer’ Category.  (combining candid images and photographer/guest interaction. Influenced by fashion photography often with post production editing and other creative touches; producing custom style images).

Back on the  28th February I was notified that I had made it through to the final. Having made the final the last two years running, many enhancements have taken place since last year and I’ve tried to give myself the best opportunity of becoming a winner this year. Firstly upping my game photographically, by attending various courses run by leading wedding photographers in the uk but also designing a brand new website which I just managed to finish the day before the judges were going to review my site.

I was up against some tough competitors as the seven finalist had such high standards of work and I am thrilled with coming runner up, I was also notified that there was only a small margin of points between the winner and runner up.

Making it to the finals wouldn’t be possible without all of my wonderful bride/grooms who left feedback about me over the last two years and intrust me to capture such an important day. Its very humbling to hear what an impact my photography has had on them and is one of the main reasons I am a wedding photographer.

Beautiful, individual, spectacular, breathtaking. These are a few words our family and friends have used to describe the outstanding photos Paul captured for us on the best day of our lives. He captured us beautifully as a couple and our gorgeous album is something we will treasure for a lifetime and enjoying showing our daughter. We took a great deal of time looking for the perfect photographer as we live in Nottingham & was getting married in St Mawes Castle. Nights on the Internet looking for the perfect style, natural & modern but simply elegant & we found the perfect guy, Paul! From his website his blogs looks amazing & just what we were after so we arranged to meet in a lovely little cake house in Truro. After sitting there for over an hour listening to him talk so passionate about his work & the love for photography & showing us the wide range of albums he could offer, I knew within the first 5 minutes he would be perfect to shoot our big day, so we booked him before we even finished our cake!! Our Wedding Day was perfect & Paul’s photo’s were simply incredible & so much more than I could of ever imagined!! After your wedding day you have a lot of keepsakes but nothing comes close to the memories of photographs of all your loved ones on your special day! There are possibly no words to express our thanks to Paul for the lasting memories he has given us. Our photos tell a story of laughter, excitement, joy, happiness, nerves and love and many more emotions from our special day. Nothing was ever a problem for Paul and he showed nothing but professionalism from the first moment we met. We felt total confidence with Paul, and his abilities to work with the wedding dvd man and hotel that we left everything in his capable hands and this took so much pressure off us on the day. Our photos are, stunning, meaningful, and truly beautiful and so many people have commented on them. We never tire of looking at them, they captured the best day of our lives and our happy ever after.

Paul surpassed all of our expectations for our wedding day. From the earliest contact he was friendly, organised and accommodating and put us at complete ease in the run up to our wedding day, particularly by providing a preshoot to get to know us better and help us relax in front of the camera. On the day itself his work was faultless, capturing all of the special moments as they happened, and giving us memories that will last a lifetime. He went out of his way to get us the shots we wanted, braving the wind and rain to take us into a local forest area. We couldn’t recommend Paul highly enough and will always treasure our wedding photographs.

The first meeting we meet Paul we new we wanted him to do our wedding photos. He showed us wedding photos in a style we had not seen before.We love his style and his artistic ability that made our wedding photos stand out from the crowd. He captured many a perfect moment throughout the day and his determination to get that ‘special’ shot was epic. Paul was the exact kind of photographer we wanted for our wedding. We were organising a Cornish wedding from Australia so we looked at lots of photographer’s websites to find a style that suited us. We fell in love with the photos that Paul had taken at our venue (Trevenna Barns) of previous weddings and also what he was had for other places. When we met up with him, he was very easy going and had lots of albums for us to see of his work (come rain or shine). We bonded well with him and that was it – he was our photographer. We met up again the week before just to go through the shots that we would like from the wedding and also what he recommended. Because we were late in the season, he suggested some shots that he hadn’t done with other couples which we both liked the sound of. On the wedding day he was fantastic. Got lots of photos of us getting ready (without being in the way) and then during the ceremony. After the ceremony was complete he chauffeured us to the spots that he had picked out for us and got some beautiful photos. He was really flexible with how our day was going. The wedding album is really well put together. Paul has out done himself through out the entire process.
