Some of my favourite Beaches in Newquay for a wedding proposal

Many of Cornwall and the UK’s best beaches are located in Newquay. Unspoilt, unique and lovingly cared for, Newquay’s beaches consistently win awards for the best beaches in Britain, delivering dramatic coastal settings packed with wow factor as well as top facilities.

Top favourites for a romantic wedding proposal along Newquay’s coast are multi award-winning: Holywell Bay, Crantock Beach, Lusty Glaze and Watergate Bay.

Each of these beaches has won many national awards. Lusty Glaze is a serene, private bay with a full range of facilities and the only beach in Cornwall where you can legally get married on the sand.

Crantock and Holywell on the other hand, offer huge stretches of sand edged by sand dunes. All three bring the drama with towering slashes of cliffs crowned with greenery and wildflowers bordering the sand and spectacular views out to sea ahead.

Beyond its atmospheric beach settings, Newquay is also home to beautiful historic houses, pretty barn conversion, eco venues, dazzling manor houses and impressive botanical gardens. It has superb transport links to the rest of the UK and an airport close by.

The awesome sub-tropical Eden Project is only 30 minutes away, Truro, Falmouth and Fowey are close by whilst all around are various rural areas of national pride.

Take one of the many coastal paths along Newquay’s cliff tops for heart-stopping vistas and fresh Cornish sea-air. In one direction you’ll uncover the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Beauty, in another, on the outskirts of Crantock Village, perched on high, the West Pentire headland.

If you visit in summer, the Pentire headland is carpeted in scarlet poppies and butter-yellow marigolds. Whatever the time of year, Pentire is the best place in the area to watch the sun go down – a worthy backdrop, if there was ever one, for a proposal to treasure.

And that’s just the beginning.

Ethereal woodland settings where the light hits the ground between the trees just-so are here too. Plush tipis, tree houses, yurts, wood cabins and luxe Winnebagos close by, make it pretty irresistible not to have at least one overnight stay in your fairytale setting.

This is the home of Boardmaster’s Festival and the best surf in the country so there are tons of exhilarating activities to enjoy in the local area. For watersports, you’ll encounter every option from kite surfing to jet skiing, paddle boarding, coasteering, kayaking and surfing.

In and around Newquay

If you want to stay dry, there’s abseiling, archery, hiking, cycling, axe throwing, kite buggies and one of the largest, fastest outdoor go-karting tracks in the country.

Take a whimsical ride on the Lappa Valley Steam Train or go full Poldark and relish a romantic walk across the moors with the coastal breeze whipping through your hair and Cornish wildflowers at your feet.

Inside, the coral reef of the Blue Reef Aquarium’s underwater tunnel makes sharks, turtles, rays and pufferfish the perfect marine backdrop if you choose. Or head to Newquay Zoo where all sorts of wild and rare animals await.

For the particularly adventurous, the Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre could be just the place to take your proposal to the skies – literally. Take a spellbinding flight over Cornwall together, make the necessary preparations to take control of the cockpit yourself or opt for one of the many other thrilling flying experiences on offer.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Such a beautiful proposal, captured perfectly by Paul. I decided to propose to my girlfriend when we travelled up to Newquay, Cornwall, and Paul’s page popped up, I reached out and we had a good chat on how we were going to do this. It was weeks of planning and Paul helped out every step of the way.I am from London so he knew the local area a lot more than I did. After the proposal, he sent some photos to us on the same day so we could show friends and family. A week later we received the whole gallery, alongside a video. Perfectly edited.
