Cornwall Maternity Photographs
Stacey contacted me asking if I would photograph her ‘bump’ and I was absolutely delighted with the privilege. I asked her to send me some images that she had seen to give me an idea of what she would like as my normal genre of photography is weddings. The one image that stood out was a maternity shoot that the singer Shakira and her football player boyfriend Gerard Pique.
That shoot had a very sexy but stylish feel to it, reminding me a lot of a Guess jeans or a Calvin Klein advert.
I was also very lucky to have Stacey’s sister in on the shoot; she was due 4 weeks earlier than Stacey but looking at the bumps it was hard to tell.
One of the photographs was inspired by some fashion photographs that I had seen a few months ago, I showed Stacey my idea and she was really excited to be involved. So, armed with a few metres of really expensive silk, a fan, and Dean (Stacey’s husband) this photo started to take shape. It took a few attempts as the silk did not always flow exactly as I wished. But I love the final image, and gave the silk tail a bit of Photoshop wizardry to add to the drama of the wind.
