The Alverton Hotel wedding photographer
The Alverton Hotel in Truro, Cornwall is one the best hotel wedding venues in the South West. This stunning, multi-award winning hotel offers the chance to combine amazing architecture and luxe facilities in one of Cornwall’s most famous locations.
Once a convent, the Alverton Manor Hotel is steeped in history and located high on a hill, not far from central Truro. Hidden away from the city, this former manor house is a really popular wedding venue prized for its beautiful architecture and grounds.
Grade II-listed and designed by the same architects who designed Truro Cathedral, the Alverton’s distinguished list of former owners include a past president of the Royal Horticultural Society. Built in 1830, it’s a truly unique place and I really love shooting weddings here.
In fact, I’m really lucky to be a recommended Alverton Hotel wedding photographer so I photograph weddings here often. The wedding team are absolutely lovely and the venue is filled with stunning architectural features as well as gorgeous gardens so you know the wedding photos you’ll get here will be totally brilliant.
The hotel is really easy to get to by all modes of transport. It’s just off the A30 and close to both Truro train and bus stations. If you want to, you can choose to hire Alverton Manor Hotel for two nights. The hotel has a maximum capacity of 140 and any rooms you book come at a discounted rate – which is great.

Inside the hotel, you’ll find a choice of four ceremony rooms. The Great Hall is easily the most popular of the four and a highlight of the venue.
Alverton’s infamous Great Hall is a dramatic space, ornately decorated with many hallmarks of a cathedral. It offers a spectacular backdrop to your wedding complete with a high vaulted ceiling, marble staging, stone pillars, arches, intricate stonework, a dance floor and atmospheric lighting.
It’s a really impressive space that produces amazing wedding photos. As an Alverton Manor Hotel wedding photographer, you are really spoilt for choice because outside there are also loads of interesting spaces that you can capture too.
The hotel has beautiful grounds and a number of terraces which you can use. There are landscaped gardens and woodland studded here and there with archways, ancient trees and pretty borders that create amazing backdrops for your wedding photography.
The main terrace is a sun-filled, south-facing terrace adjoined to the Library. The Library provides another option that can be used for your wedding ceremony. This side of the building is also a pretty space that lots of people say reminds them of a French chateau.
If the weather isn’t great, drinks receptions are usually held in The Oak Suite – a lovely light-filled room with high ceilings and period features.
Smaller gatherings often use The Duchy Suite which is a smaller ceremony room by the south-facing terrace. There is even a lovely church close by if you want to exchange your vows in a church.
The Alverton’s restaurant has won many awards so you can rest assured your wedding breakfast will be delicious. You’ll be able to create your own bespoke menu with the hotel’s double AA rosette chefs and go back to the Great Hall for your wedding breakfast and reception.
The wedding team are absolutely lovely, really experienced and totally committed to creating your dream wedding. Nothing is too much for them which is what you need when you are planning a wedding.

The Alverton Hotel Balcony photographs
I think I was the first person who started the creative balcony photograph back in 2014, every since then I have always created a new and unique image for the wedding couple. I really helps push me to be creative and think outside the box to come up with new images. Here are a selection of my favourite balcony photographs at the Alverton. Kicking off this the very first image that started it all.
The Alverton Hotel is a top Cornwall hotel wedding venue. You’ll be hard pushed to find another hotel wedding venue in the area with such a stunning collection of plush spaces and accommodation. In fact, after a fire, some of the Alverton Hotel interior design was by a friend of mine, Darren Friend of Design By Friends.
