Any opportunity to shoot a wedding at the Carlyon is always amazing and I’m really lucky to be a regular wedding photographer here. From the beach to the sea views and the outdoor space, you know the wedding photos here will be amazing and there are so many places where you can take spectacular shots.
The hotel is located in Carlyon Bay, St Austell. This sought-after area of Cornwall is known as the Cornish Riviera so you can expect glorious beaches and beautiful surroundings.
As both a local and a partner Carlyon Bay wedding photographer for the hotel, I know this venue really well and it never disappoints.
The experienced staff here are absolutely lovely and the indoor spaces are just as striking as the outdoor venue – again offering those picturesque views across the Cornish coast.
Bookings come with complimentary use of the spa and 18-hole championship golf course as well as gorgeous luxury accommodation with more sea views. It’s a spectacular Cornwall wedding venue in one of the most beautiful parts of the UK that is often used as a filming location for shows such as Poldark.
The hotel is situated in a private location, just off the A391 and A390, on Carolyn Bay. The hotel only hosts one wedding per day and the site is in a prime location, close to the famous Eden Project and the Cornish Riviera’s much-lauded beaches.
Glorious idyll on the Cornish coast
The biggest draw at The Carlyon is arguably its outdoor pavilion wedding space although the indoor venues won’t disappoint.
Designed in an exquisite classical style, the hotel’s white-columned gazebo is flanked by acres of green lawn and surrounded by breathtaking views across the bay in every direction. It is a sublime setting and unsurprisingly a sought-after wedding space.
The gazebo is kitted out with contemporary light and sound systems so the entire experience for the couple and the range of shots for a wedding photographer are fantastic.
Another great space for a Carlyon Bay Hotel wedding photographer is Carlyon Beach below. With a lift down in the hotel’s special gold golf buggy, photos on the beach after the ceremony are a must for most couples – weather permitting of course.
Inside there are loads of options to choose from.
The Carlyon Suite and Clubhouse Bar is the most popular choice. It’s a sensational wedding facility on the grounds, with floor to ceiling windows, a spacious bar area and superb views across the green and out across St Austell Bay. Views that can be enjoyed by you and your guests from both inside and outside on the terrace.
The ceremony room is a favourite with couples who opt for an indoor ceremony and is often followed by a delicious wedding breakfast in the hotel’s award-winning Bay View Restaurant. The Bay View restaurant is another superb space with more scenic views and plenty of room for fine dining for up to 150 guests.
There are lots of other spaces and bars to enjoy here so it is easy to put together the perfect package to suit the feel of your day.
As a luxury hotel, you’ll find lots of facilities here to elevate your day and the food is second to none. Ingredients are fresh, locally sourced and absolutely delicious. I’ve eaten here many times and always look forward to my next visit!
There are many tantalising menus that you can tailor to your personal taste or you can create your own menu from scratch. The venue allows all forms of entertainment during the day, including fireworks.

One of the best decisions of our wedding day! Paul photographed our wedding day brilliantly and captured all the pivotal moments (and more).
He photographed the wedding in such a professional manner that you almost forgot he was there. All photos are of great quality with a great mixture of natural (documentary style photographs) and posed images.
In addition, he sent across a small selection of pictures the night of our wedding which was a very nice touch, as it meant we had some pictures to post on our socials the very next morning. Overall, would highly reccomend!

Not to mention the hotel’s own 250 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds, which are home to tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, a croquet lawn, an adventure playground and lots more.
