Wedding at the Carbis bay hotel
This is my second wedding at the Carbis Bay Hotel and it did not disappoint! Weddings in St Ives have to be up there in my favourite locations to shoot, the beaches are truly breathtaking with amazing light.
So when Steve and Jess asked me to photograph their wedding I couldn’t wait for their wedding day. The weather forecast wasn’t exactly what most brides would want on their wedding day, in Cornwall we call it “mizzle” (misty rain) but actually it creates a beautiful soft light. My day started at Jess’ mum’s house with the umbrellas being put to good use due to the weather. Steve and Jess are keen surfers so it was only appropriate that they had a friend who owns a stunning white VW campervan to take Jess and her bridesmaids to the Carbis Bay Hotel.
After a beautiful ceremony at the Carbis Bay Hotel the weather wasn’t at its best but Steve and Jess were keen to get some photographs in the bag, so to speak, so we headed down to the beach with Jess’s dad in tow with the umbrella to keep the bride dry. We took full advantage of the empty beach and captured some lovely bridal portraits before heading back up to the hotel for the wedding breakfast.
After the wedding breakfast the speeches started. They were the funniest speeches I have heard in a while! With the bestman getting Jess’ name wrong it was especially entertaining and had everyone in stitches.
The weather cleared up a little so we headed back down to the beach for the more traditional group photographs, which then gave me a second chance to capture some more bridal portraits. On the way back to the hotel we even managed to stop the taxi to capture a photograph with Gran as she couldn’t make it down to the beach.
An important part of the wedding to Steve and Jess was the music, they had organized for one of their favourite local bands to play and I can see why as they were amazing and have never seen such a filled dance floor after a first dance before.
I really enjoyed capturing Steve & Jess’s amazing wedding at the Carbis Bay Hotel and here are a few photos to showcase the day. Please feel free to share on social media, or leave a comment.
