It was such a pleasure photographing Phoebe’s and Sam Boho wedding at Trevenna Barns, all their friends and family were really welcoming. The flow of the day was really relaxed and we even managed to get out twice for couples photographs to capture the last of the evening light.
Here are a few wards from Phoebe & Sam about their Boho wedding at Trevenna Barns.
How did you first meet?
Truro college at lunch, Sam was eating food off the floor when Phoebe walked in and sat with him. Sam then asked me to be his girlfriend whilst having an evening picnic on Perranporth (first of all writing it in the sand and then getting a little embarrassed and rubbing it out and just asking ); which is where and why we decided to do our engagement shoot there! We also took sand from the beach and used it to sandblast Sam’s wedding band.
Please describe the proposal
Sam proposed in Rome on Avantine Hill, a spot that has a view over room towards the Vatican from the orange tree garden. It was sunset, purple hues, with a busker playing guitar. Sam started his proposal by saying how much he loved and enjoyed all of our special moments before getting down on one knee.
The dress – where did you find it, and what was it like? Who did you take with you dress shopping and how did you find the whole experience?
The dress was love at first sight at the bridal house in Truro. I went with my sister, mum and best friend. I absolutely loved the whole experience but when I put my dress on me and everyone I was with said that’s the one! I added extra jewels to the top to add to its elegance and make it unique to me. It was finished with a diamond headpiece and simple jewellery.

what were the reasons for choosing your wedding venue?
After going through the whole of the Cornwall Council website looking at where was registered we had a few viewings at different venus, Trevenna being our first and last stop as we fell in love with the relaxed vibe, the opportunity for some guests to stay in the barns, and the exclusivity that you wouldn’t bump into anyone you didn’t know. The final deciding factor was down to our love of the outdoors, and the opportunity to get married outside sealed the deal.
When planning your wedding, did you have any help or did you do it mostly yourselves? What were the most important aspects for you (eg. the photographer, the food, the decor…)?
We planned our wedding by ourselves but had much help from friends and family, especially with the hand-painted invitations each sealed with personalised wax stamp and sprig of lavender. For us, he outdoor venue, flowers, and photographer and videographer were the most important as we wanted a really special day, full of life and for it to be captured in the best way (Paul Keppel did not disappoint!)
What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)
Bright, colourful and in touch with nature, my dress was a little Boho as well.
Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.
I loved our flowers, with the orange colour pops incorporated within the aisle jars and the grooms and my bouquet.
We made all of our signs ourselves and loved how rustic they looked. loved the hand made signs. The venue was perfect to find little spots away from the guests to have some photos taken in the gardens and fields around Trevenna.
Also one of our favourite things was choosing a really good live band! Basically everything! There’s not one thing I thought wasn’t perfect! Ideas came from our creative nature and also Pinterest came very in handy when developing and drawing ideas.
