Highly Commended Awards in Weddings Avant Garde & Traditional
Highly Commended Awards in Weddings Avant Garde & Traditional: This is the first time that I’ve entered into the Societies Swpp (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers) competition and was shocked to find that I had achieved not one “highly commended” but two in the wedding categories and another in the children category.
The scoring system for the awards are:
Gold: Awards will go forward to the annual judging and are deemed to be images of the highest standard and will be published in Professional Imagemaker Highly Commended: Above standard. These images will be reviewed every three months and have the potential of being reclassified as Gold. Not Awarded: Unfortunately these images fall below the standard required to be given an award.
The gold award is very hard to achieve, the Swpp monthly competition receives several hundred entrants from professional photographers across the UK & Europe. Each month photographers are allowed to submit one photograph into each category which is then judged by the Swpp top photographers who are highly qualified in their field.
Within the Wedding Avant Garde category there was only one gold awarded out of 67 photographers who entered and none awarded in the wedding Traditional out of 81. This goes to show the high standard of judging.
This year my aim is to push my photography skills further, creatively as well as technically and I would like to achieve at least a few more high commended awards with the hope of one gold by the end of the year.
Here are the two images that won highly commended awards in weddings avant garde & traditional and one of my favourites portrait photographs of my niece that also won highly commended in the children’s category.
