From the moment Matt and I first met Paul, his personable, warm and friendly nature made us feel instantly at ease. After seeing the pure talent and stunning images that Paul had in his portfolio and having him recommended to us from all of our wedding vendors as number one photographer, there was no question that we wanted Paul to capture our special day. So we acted quickly to secure him for our date!
Throughout our year of wedding preparations, we came to know Paul and although we were not locals to Falmouth, liaising with Paul about our wedding was effortless and he certainly made it that way. One fantastic day in May, we met Paul in Mawnan Smith to do a ‘pre-wedding’ shoot, with our wedding looming just three months away. Paul had asked if there was a special place for us in Falmouth and we chose our 2 mile walk that Matt and I had done on our very first trip together. Without hesitation, Paul met us there and photographed us both along the way. It was an afternoon of fun, continuous laughter and love with the most stunning backdrop. Later that same day, Paul sent over some previews of our shoot and we were stunned with what he had done. Paul captured us both perfectly; every subtle glance, our fits of giggles and our genuine happiness were now memories made to treasure thanks to Paul’s skill and charming character. And it didn’t stop there.
Paul’s relentless professionalism meant that every intricate detail of our big day, on August 8th 2019 was thought about, which meant that every inch of our wedding was captured in the beauty of his lens. Paul blended into our wedding party like one of the family and because of that he captured the most stunning, natural and beautiful moments with our loved ones that we will cherish forever.
Paul listened to what Matt and I had envisioned for our day implicitly and the types of shots that we wanted him to take and he went above and beyond for us in every way. Following Paul’s eye for beauty and romantic spots for shots, we visited The Princess Pavilion and Gyllyngvase Beach, regardless of the rain and wind that accompanied us. This detour added to the fun and laughter of our special day and once again was captured with the most incredible eye for natural beauty. Paul allowed us to be completely ourselves and this beamed out of our photographs.
When receiving our photographs only a month after our wedding date along with a wonderful message from Paul suggesting for us to pour ourselves a glass of fizz and enjoy a night of viewing on the sofa to relive our amazing wedding day, we could not have been more elated and we did just that! The photos were simply incredible. Every single one. I sobbed my heart out looking through each photo because Paul had captured every moment of the day with absolute magnificence. Every family and friend had been captured in the most beautiful, natural light with every silly face, raucous belly laughs, tears of joy and happiness and outrageous dancing shot to perfection. We could not have asked for a better photographer to have taken on our special day and made it unique for us. The natural shots of our wedding, when looking back felt like it happened yesterday and we are so grateful to Paul for his profound dedication to capturing our wedding in a way I believe no one else could have done.

Paul was amazing from the start. From the moment we booked him, his communication was awesome. From the odd text to check everything was going ok in general to checking everything was ok with the planning. He has an extensive list of contacts in the industry. The DJ we had booked a year previously cancelled on us with 2 weeks notice after getting a better paid gig. Within 30 minutes of me putting an appeal on Facebook, Paul had messaged me with a list of available DJ’s along with recommendations.
As far as the wedding itself goes, he somehow managed to strike the perfect balance of being invisible whilst being highly visible when he needed to be, he was like a mega polite general marshalling his troops to where they needed to be for group photos, yet he managed to take some real up close and personal photos without us realising he was there. When he sent us the photos, we were blown away. He managed to capture the whole day like a story, exactly how we had hoped. All that was missing was David Attenborough narrating. It was also quite obvious that he had done his homework, we could tell that he had done some scouting and had found the best places in the area to take photos and the results were phenomenal. To quote a film, given the choice of Paul Keppel and David Bailey, I would pick Paul everyday of the week and twice on sundays.

Paul’s photography business stood out from the moment we saw his website and his beautiful shots. His eye for detail, his documentary style and capturing the moment was just what we were after and he did not disappoint on our wedding day. Working with Paul Keppel Photography has been an absolute delight from start to finish! Being a (U.S.) bride on a destination wedding you are always hesitant on selecting the right photographer in a place you are unfamiliar with. Despite the time difference, Paul made communication easy and made me feel at ease that everything would go smoothly on our big day. He flew out early all the way to our Zermatt wedding in Switzerland to meet with us beforehand and discuss good locations and settings to take photographs. Although the white out snow on the Alps and rain in the valley made it a struggle, Paul helped us set up in each location and was able to shoot some of the most breathtaking photographs. We were amazed with his professional directions and tips throughout the day as we were skiing and hiking in our wedding attire. Having Paul as a photographer at our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. My big recommendation to other people going through the process would be to do the pre-wedding shoot, it really helped us to relax in front of the camera, was great that we could find the locations we wanted to have some shots taken in – which helped saved us a huge amount of time on the day, and it was good to understand the lighting and also some tips you had for us about how to hold ourselves! Paul was the exact kind of photographer we wanted for our wedding. We were organising a Cornish wedding from Australia so we looked at lots of photographer’s websites to find a style that suited us. We fell in love with the photos that Paul had taken at our venue (Trevenna Barns) of previous weddings and also what he was had for other places. When we met up with him, he was very easy going and had lots of albums for us to see of his work (come rain or shine). We bonded well with him and that was it – he was our photographer. We met up again the week before just to go through the shots that we would like from the wedding and also what he recommended. Because we were late in the season, he suggested some shots that he hadn’t done with other couples which we both liked the sound of. On the wedding day he was fantastic. Got lots of photos of us getting ready (without being in the way) and then during the ceremony. After the ceremony was complete he chauffeured us to the spots that he had picked out for us and got some beautiful photos. He was really flexible with how our day was going. The wedding album is really well put together. Paul has outdone himself throughout the entire process. We will quite happily recommend him to anyone getting married.

I innocently googled Cornish wedding photographers as my starting point to find the person to capture our wedding. I stumbled upon Paul Keppel’s site and viewed his amazing gallery. From the initial meeting with Paul to receiving our wedding album, Paul was incredibly professional and focused on getting exactly the right pictures from our wedding. We had a slightly different style wedding but this didn’t faze Paul. He met us before we got to the venue and took photos of us and family members even though it was windy. He managed to get some excellent pictures of the sea and cliff. We took all of our guests onto the beach and had a lovely large group photo, followed by speech and cake cutting pictures which truly captured the whole day perfectly. The highlight though must be the final photo when I suddenly announced I wanted a picture on the beach with the moonlight. Even with kit falling over because of the wind we got a fantastic picture. There’s no doubt about it we made the right decision when we picked Paul as our photographer. I made contact with him after getting a recommendation from my venue. I wanted someone who knew the venue well as it had a great outdoor space for an outdoor wedding but the indoor space was quite restrictive – you can never guarantee the weather in Cornwall so it was important our photograph could adapt to the indoor space if we couldn’t get married outdoors. Paul’s portfolio was proof that he knew it well and could adapt to the indoor space to produce beautiful photos – we didn’t even consider seeing any other photographers.
On the day, Paul and his team were there on time and worked discreetly in the background but at the same time engaging with our guests and making them feel more comfortable in front of the camera – in fact pretty much all our guest commented to us about how wonderful they were!
The sun shone and we were lucky enough to get married outdoors. When it came to the big moment they captured beautiful, natural shots, including a great ones of our friends taking a group selfie of themselves (a particular special memory as we recently relocated to Australia and miss them a lot – it’s been printed and takes prized position on my desk at work!).

Paul came highly recommended and from the very start we knew we had made the right decision. He is such a personable character, relaxed but equally highly professional. The key for me is he got to know us and listened to what we wanted which made the entire shoot relaxed, fun and a massive part in making this day so special. He met us a number of times before the day and at the venue, scoped out key areas for photographs and liaised effectively with the events manager.
The photos were brilliant- the lighting, background and quality of the prints exceeded our expectations and we loved he mix of posed and ‘action shots’. He caught amazing moments of me forgetting to speak at the altar and the laughter which ensued, to photographing people’s reactions to our speeches and some wonderful moments between myself and my wife. The aftercare was equally as great, constantly communicating with us and even offering to bring the album to our parents who lived nearby in Cornwall. We took a great deal of time looking for the perfect photographer as we live in Nottingham & was getting married in St Mawes Castle. Nights on the Internet looking for the perfect style, natural & modern but simply elegant & we found the perfect guy, Paul!
From his website his blogs looked amazing & just what we were after so we arranged to meet in a lovely little cake house in Truro.
