Situated in the heart of the Dordogne and within easy reach of historic towns like Sarlat, (which I can highly recommend on Market day). There amazing restaurants or even Kayaking down the Dordogne River. We kayaked 16km, and I know that sounds far but it’s quite a fast-paced river so it’s not too hard going but a great way to see the stunning scenery.

Nestled in a quiet valley the 184 acres offers a carp filled lake for fishing, a swimming pool, and a Gym & fitness studio.  For those would want to take it a little more gentle the huge gardens with the little river Manaurie running through it.

Either out on the terrace under the huge parasols or in the Pergola draped with Wisteria which is the perfect setting to host your wedding breakfast. Just within the pergola is a huge fire pit that kept us warm well into the late night.

Chateau Forge Du Roy in the Dordogne region of France is the perfect wedding venue if you are looking for a beautifully restored 17th Century Estate which retains many original features.

How to get to Chateau Forge Du Roy

As soon as I got off the plane in Bergerac I realised what a beautiful part of France the Dordogne region was. You arrive in the smallest of airports which you can almost reach out and grab your bag straight from the plane. Outside the airport, there are loads of car hire companies which it’s the best way to get around the Dordogne region. Chateau Forge Du Roy is only an hour’s drive from Bergerac and it’s a beautiful way to see the region as taxi’s are really expensive.

Chateau Forge Du Roy Wedding

The wedding venue caters for the smaller intimate wedding holding up to 20 of your nearest and dearest. The wedding I attended had around 40 guests, which the remainder of the guests it was a short drive to a neighbouring village called Les Eyzies, Its in the Perigord Noir. It’s quite a busy little town as its home to the National Museum of Prehistory.

The accommodation consists of two buildings – The Forge and The Barn which face each other across the 300ft garden. Each building is a complete home with a sitting room, kitchen, laundry facilities, log burner, etc. and has a bedroom on the ground floor which is wheelchair accessible.
