I had the pleasure of photographing Rupert & Steph’s wedding at Prideaux Place in Padstow, even with a pretty terrible weather forecasting heavy downpours it didn’t dampen anyones spirits.

Here are a few words from Rupert & Steph about their beautiful Prideaux Place wedding.

How did you first meet?

We lived opposite each other at university!

Please describe the proposal

Rupert suggested we take the ferry over from Padstow to Rock, and go up into the sand dunes to take some photos for our house. I was busy taking a photo of the estuary and turned around to see Rupert down on one knee! Such a wonderful moment and one of my favourite places.

The dress – where did you find it, and what was it like? Who did you take with you dress shopping and how did you find the whole experience?

I found my dress at The Bridal Room, in Broadway. It was the first shop I went to, and I can’t fault the service that the girls offered. They do everything to make sure you feel a million dollars! My dress was a lace fishtail dress with a detachable jacket. I had a satin belt with ‘bling’ on to change the look for the evening.

what where the reasons for choosing your wedding at Prideaux Place?

It was the perfect location in relation to the church, and we love Padstow. Prideaux place is a beautiful historic house and was a lovely setting for our marquee.

When planning your wedding, did you have any help or did you do it mostly yourselves? What were the most important aspects for you (eg. the photographer, the food, the decor…)?

We planned everything pretty much ourselves, but really appreciated the advice we had from the marquee company, our photographer and the venue. Our families helped us to pull it all together at the end, which made things a lot easier.

What was your wedding inspiration? (think decor, overall theme and feel of the day, etc)

Traditional English wedding, with a few personalised twists

Describe some of your favorite wedding details and how you came up with them.

Some of our favourite details were the aspects that happened a bit by accident. We hired a brilliant guitarist called John to play people in to our reception venue, before the meal. We met him down on the harbour in Padstow when he was busking and he had such a wonderful style. He also played a song for us during the first band break, which was unplanned.

Bride: What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding day?

Take the time to notice the little things, some of the best moments are ones that you don’t plan and they’re easy to miss. If you’ve done all the planning before hand, trust your groomsmen to do their jobs and relax and enjoy the day!

Groom: What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding day?

It’s a personal one, but don’t be tempted to video everything. We found it was better to live in the moment and have our photos and memories to remember the day. If everyone is recording on their phones they’re not properly focused on the day.

As usual, here is a selection of favourite from a Rupert & Steph’s wedding at Prideaux Place.  Please feel free to share on social media, or leave a comment.
