I was delighted when Laurence & Amy booked me for their wedding at the St Michaels Hotel in Falmouth. This was the first time that I’ve photographed at the wedding venue, although it has been on my list for quite a while.
As usual my day started with photographing the bridal preparation in one of the beautiful rooms at the Hotel. With Laurence & Amy choosing to have a civil ceremony at the St Michaels Hotel, it meant it was just a very short walk to the Regatta suite.
After the beautiful wedding ceremony we headed out to the front of the hotel so that the guests could enjoy some canapés and refreshments. This gave us some time to use the stunning grounds for some portraits but also pop over the road to the Queen Mary Gardens, (also known as Gyllyngvase Gardens) to use the sub-tropical plants as a background. But the main reason for choosing their wedding at St Michaels Hotel was down to it being located right next to Gyllyngvase beach. So we headed down to the water’s edge by-passing another bride and groom on the beach.
We then headed inside for the wedding breakfast and entertaining speeches from the best men. This led into the cake cutting, and Wow, what an amazing cake! This was the first time that I had photographed a Naked Wedding Cake, and it’s tasted as good as it lookedJ.
Before the big day I had spoken to Laurence & Amy about taking a variety of different creative shoots, and they were keen to get some different shoots. I did want to make use of the beautiful colours from the marine fish tank in the bar area, and placed Laurence & Amy on one side and myself on the other. We literally had 30 seconds before the wedding guests needed to be seated but I managed to get off 3 shoots. We then popped out on to the lawn, and used a couple of flashes to create a nice picture to finish off their wedding album.
As usual, here is a selection of some of my favourite shots from Laurence & Amy’s wedding at St Michaels Hotel. Please feel free to share on social media, or leave a comment – I love those and always try to respond too.
