Over the summer I was in talks with Flo and Carmen at Amanda K Bridal Boutique about collaborating with a few suppliers and putting together some bridal photographs.
Amanda K Bridal is located in Perranarworthal next to The Olive Grove Restaurant and Cornish Garden Nurseries.
The brief from Amanda K Bridal was that they didn’t want to produce the usual Cornish sea view photographs, so this took a little thinking about locations around Cornwall that would be fitting.
It felt very much like a typical wedding as we had a change of location at the last minute, while the model was in hair and makeup I had 20mins to have a quick scout around the location to see which area would enhance the photographs.
Last year for a photography project I visited Gweek Boat Yard for a possible fashion type shoot. I thought this would be a perfect location for a bridal shoot due to all the boats being moored up and having repairs/servicing on the hulls. Due to our usual horrible British summer weather we had rain for a solid two weeks. We received a call from the Boat Yard saying the location was very muddy, which isn’t ideal for brand new wedding dresses.
When we were looking for a model we wanted a girl with dark hair and olive skin. I had a call from Flo who was exhibiting with Amanda K Bridal at a bridal fashion fayre. She had seen Maddie our model in the fashion show and thought she would be perfect for the bridal shoot.
I have worked with make up artist Laura Harris a few times on various photo shoots, Laura did the makeup for the test shoot and once again she did a beautiful job on Maddie’s makeup. To finish off the styling, Leanne Chadwick who owns Tapis Rouge Hair in Truro did an amazing hair style that really complemented the look of the shoot. A bridal shoot wouldn’t be complete without a wedding bouquet; Tracy Q did an amazing job on the flowers, I loved the colours in Bridal Shower bouquet, tear drop of flowers, which went perfectly with the Selina wedding dress which had a Spanish influence from the ruffles in the dress.
